I'm Not! Yay!

I finally got my micros finished. It took about…9 hours total (2 different days). It’s something different for me, but I like it…especially the fact that it doesn’t hurt at all.
Last night, I had to work at 1330 (the store in Bluffton), and it was okay. They get a lot more business than we do on the island. I was kind of sick at first, but after I saw Jermaine I felt better. Maybe it was the fact that I didn’t know anyone that was there, even though I did see Brenda and Sandra once (they work at HHI with me). I was kind of upset because we were supposed to work together, but I got shipped over to 1330 to work the night shift, instead of the morning shift at my usual spot. I actually cried when I saw him…and when I called him before I left the house to tell him that I missed him. ILL! When did I become such a punk?
Speaking of punks, there’s been a lot of talk lately about who’s gay and who’s not (this is about males). A LOT of people around me have been coming out of the closet, or showing a more…feminine side…and it’s all coming together about why they’ve been acting the way that they have. Personally, I don’t have anything against homosexuals, it’s just when they try to lie and cover it up like they are all into the opposite sex when they know (and everyone else knows) that they aren’t. I don’t know why, but it really bugs me. I’m sure everyone has their reasons as to why they choose to hide or flaunt their sexuality…maybe it’s not for the public eye to know. Anyway, it turns out that a bunch of guys in Hampton County (where I stay) are undercover…on the down low…whatever. That’s mostly in the Estill part (which is one of the top 5 cities/towns for HIV/AIDS in South Carolina). A lot of these “undercover” guys have also been messing with women causing the disease to spread. Basically, it all comes down to being careful who you mess around with. Make sure that you know…I mean…really know the person. But how can you ever be sure? Because some of these men are married. :-< What is the world coming to? (As you can see I’ve been reading the newspaper more often.) Well, Jermaine and I are having…a disagreement at the moment about something really stupid. We were talking about how being raped or molested can really mess someone up, and I was just telling him my experience w/ being molested as a child, and how it didn’t affect me as much as it did/does other people. Then he started asking me all these questions trying to make a connection between that and my [sexual] preferences when there really isn’t a logical explanation as to why I like sex the way I do. 8-| WOW! I think this is the most open I’ve ever been on my site. I have to work tomorrow…going to leave early so I can meet J for lunch. Comments have been returned. Oh yeah, and a new skin is up, too. Number 6 in the sidebar. Hope you like it! LoveyaLaterBye - Terin
Or is everyone’s version of Microsoft XP downloading these wierd security fixes that makes it mandatory to restart your computer as soon as it’s done? Then after it restarts, it starts acting crazy. It took me about 5 minutes just to get my Firefox browser open, and my internet is running as slow as molasses.
Anyway, as you can see, I can take pictures again. I’ve been away downloading music (legally) and taking pictures with the new phone. Still trying to get the hang of all of the features though. To people in NC, SC, and some parts of GA or TN, you can get the phone from Suncom for 200 bucks with a 2-year contract as of yesterday…350 w/ no contract, and 320 w/ a 1-yr. I payed 370 total (312 for phone, the rest for overnight shipping). I love it though…the newest best investment I’ve ever made.
Work has been getting back to normal…slowly. They are slowly coming out of hiding…it costs money to live, so they can’t just…abandon their jobs, you know? We only had 2 that disappeared completely off the map, mainly because they had other jobs besides Food Lion. Either way, my hours are back to normal. YAY! I’m just like…screw the extra money…I miss my life.
I have a lot of comments to return…thanks for all the love. I’m gonna go do that now. Later!
Of course work was hell last night, and yesterday morning (even though I wasn’t there…Patricia was there by herself again.) I finally found out why. I picked up Hilton Head’s local newspaper for the first time yesterday, because Hispanics have been missing from work since Wednesday…not just at Food Lion, but all over the island. A customer was talking about how Bi-Lo was cleaned out (43 out of 76 of their employees are being investigated). WOW! He said it was all in the papers…I wouldn’t have known because I could care less about what goes on in Hilton Head…I just work there. Anyway, it is stated that since that big boycott the Hispanics had, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been investigating in Hilton Head. This was also due to a dramatic increase in the Hispanic population over the last couple of months. ICE agents have been monitoring stores and apartment complexes, and assisting the local police in traffic blocks. Since I’ve found this out, a lot of things make since to me. For example, I no longer have Hispanics living next door to me…one afternoon they were there, the next morning the house was abandoned like no one was ever there. Another example, half of our employees at FL are Hispanic and they haven’t been to work since the whole Bi-Lo thing. One of them received a call while at work, and she left because it was “urgent” and she hasn’t been back since. Then we had another Hispanic worker quit yesterday out of the blue (a really great worker…never missed a day…always there when you need him). Besides that, we’ve had most of them calling out sick or just plain…not showing up.
What does this mean to me? This means that I’m going to be working more hours now. I actually got overtime last week…a first since I’ve been employed there because we’ve always had too many people to work. Then, the new girls (also Hispanic) that were supposed to start, suddenly decided that they didn’t want the job anymore. That’s completely understandable because according to some of the people who worked at the store for a very long time, FL was cleaned out in early 2005 because they had so many illegals working there. The store manager at that time got fired because he was the one who had hired them knowing that they were illegal. During that time there was one that made it through the cracks (same one that hasn’t been there since Wednesday). But she has her entire family here now…grandparents, boyfriend, and all.
Okay okay…enough rambling! I’ll return comments later.
So my whole family - cousins and everyone else - are in Valdosta, GA @ Wild Adventures theme park, and I’m stuck at home. Why? Because I have to work tonight. So I missed out on the big family reunion. I guess it’s not such a big deal because it’s Jermaine’s birthday weekend, and I had the house to myself to cook him a nice big meal. So, last night I made grilled steak, fried shrimp, and loaded baked potatoes (w/ cheese, bacon, sour cream, butter, and chives) with yellow rice. It turned out really great despite the fact that it was almost midnight when he got here from work. Then since he was tired, I gave him a back and neck massage until he fell asleep. 🙂 Now I just have to find him a present for his birthday tomorrow.
It’s tax-free weekend in SC, so that means I’m probably going to have a somewhat busy night. :-< As long as everyone shows up, I’ll be fine. Marcus called me yesterday asking me to come to work. I told him that I had plans and he just hung up. I mean…how fucking rude can you get? I was just about to ask him what time he would need me, and I thought about calling back, but I said to myself: He just hung up on me…his loss. When Jermaine got here, he told me that Patricia was there by herself because everyone else had called out. :-< But I bet no one will get fired…as usual. My phone was supposed to be overnighted, but it got stuck at customs. The UPS site says that it’ll be here today, but the lady who I talked to last night said it’ll be here on Monday. LOL, if I didn’t have to work, I’d go and pick it up from Columbia…but I can be patient…I guess. Thanks for all the comments guys…I feel loved. I’m going to try and return as many as I can before I have to get dressed for work.
